NTSE FAQs
Q1. I am in class 10th. Can I give the NTSE Exam?
A: Yes! The class X students can give the Exam.
Q2. From where I can get the NTSE first stage (state level) forms?
A: Details below:
- The candidates who wish to apply for NTSE can get the forms offline.
- The eligible candidates would also receive the card through the post.
- The Admit card (stage 1) can be downloaded online from the NCERT official website.
- Visit the official website of NTSE
- Click on the official link for downloading the NTSE 2021 Admit Card.
- Enter ‘Application number’ and ‘Date of Birth’.
- Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- Download and print Admit Card displayed on the screen.
- After receiving the hall ticket in hand, cross-check all the details.
- In case there is any change required the student needs to contact the authorities immediately.
- In case there is no photo or signature on the admit card, carry a photo and a photo id proof original to the exam hall.

Q3. What is the syllabus for NTSE Exam?
A: There is no prescribed syllabus for the NTSE exam, The assessment is based on the syllabus of the state and central education board.
It basically focuses on understanding how well have the students understood the concepts and skills learned in the school syllabus.
It has 2 tests Mental Ability Test (MAT) - To judge their reasoning power, thinking ability, judging/evaluating/discriminating ability, lateral thinking, etc. hence would have a variety of questions based on analogies, classification, series, pattern, hidden figures, coding-decoding, etc.
Scholastic Aptitude Test and (SAT). – includes Maths, Science and Social Science.
Q4. How many exams are there in the NTSE?
A: There are 2 level exams conducted every year.
- 1st level is conducted by States and Union Territories
- 2nd level is conducted by NCERT
Q5. How many scholarships are given in NTSE?
A: 1000 scholarships are given every year.
Q6. Do we have any language test in NTSE?
A: Since 2018 we do not have any language tests only MAT and SAT.
Q7. Is there any reservation in the NTSE scholarship?
A: Yes!, SC/ST/Physically challenged candidates to have a reservation of 15%, 7.5%, and 3% respectively.
Q8. Where are the examination centers for the first stage?
A: Check the official site for NCERT for the updated list of centers.
Q9. What is my district/center code?
A: The center code is available on the admit card, if not then contact the school authorities, if downloaded online then call the concerned authority and if taken offline then contact the concerned person.
Q10. Where my interview would be held?
A: Interviews are arranged at various places in the country depending on the number of candidates found eligible from different regions.
Q11. Is there any state quota in NTSE?
A: There is a state quota for stage 1, only selected candidates would qualify for the national level based on merit. There is no state quota at the final level.
Q12. I am in class IX. Can I appear in NTSE?
A: Only Class X students can appear for NTSE. The student who appeared for class VIII cannot appear the exam again.

Q14. Is there any negative marking in NTSE?
A: No there is no negative marking from 2021.
Q15. What type of questions is there in the NTSE Stage -1 exam?
A: MCQ’s with only one correct answers are asked in stage 1.
Q16. I don’t know to whom to send my NTSE form to?
A: The NTSE form needs to be submitted to your school and the school would process it further.
Q17. I have not received my admit card for the state level NTSE. What should I do?
A: You need to collect the admit card personally, if not dispatched.
Q18. I have cleared 1st Level State Talent Search Examination. How I can apply for National Level Round?
A: No Need to apply, The form would be sent to the registered address.
Q19. Can I request for evaluation / rechecking of my mark sheet?
A: No, There is no provision for re-checking
Q20. What is the advantage of clearing NTSE?
A: NTSE benefits details below:
- The biggest advantage for the students who have cleared the NTSE exam is, they are eligible for additional scholarships from the central government worth ₹500 per year.
- NTSE scholar students who opt to study further in Science and Social Science stream get scholarship up to doctorate level and students opting for professional courses get scholarship till postgraduate level.
- When planning to study abroad or applying for a U.S. scholarship, the students who have cleared the NTSE scholarship exam are preferred over other students, as the abroad universities and education institutes are aware of the scheme. They are aware that students with high intellectual skills and talent can only clear this exam.
