NTSE Stage 2
NTSE STAGE -2 (National Level, National Talent Search Exam)
Introduction
This is national level exam conducted on second Saturday of May each year (any changes would be notified in the NCERT site). The candidates who qualified the stage 1 examination only can appear for stage 2 examination, it does not require any separate enrollment or fee. The candidates would receive the Roll Number, the Venue and the time for stage 2 examination directly via speed post from NCERT.
The Indian students studying abroad will directly apply for stage 2 exam and will have to fill a form for the NTSE stage 2 examination.
From the year 2018 there would be no language test.
The qualifying marks for general category and others (SC, ST, PWD) are 40% and 32% in each paper. The choice of the award would be made based on add up to scores in MAT and SAT in light of legitimacy.

Examination Date and Time.
The exam would be conducted on 13th may 2018 at all the 36 examination centres in India. The candidates have to report at the test centre at 9:00 AM.

Examination Pattern
This stage comprise 2 papers
1. Mental Ability Test (MAT) – To judge their reasoning power, thinking ability, judging/evaluating/discriminating ability, lateral thinking etc. hence would have varieties of questions based on analogies, classification, series, pattern, hidden figures, coding-decoding, etc.
2. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). – includes Maths, Science and Social Science.

1. The exams would be conducted in English and Hindi language.
2. Each question carries 1 mark.
3. There was 1/3 negative marking for the wrong answers only, no negative markings for un-attempted questions , but from 2018 there are no negative markings.
4. OMR Answer Sheets are provided for both papers.
NTSE Answer Key
1. The answer key would be released by NCERT after conducting the examination.
2. The candidates can evaluate their estimated marks from the sheet.
3. The candidates can give their feedback of answer keys at specified time by writing to NCERT, if they find any discrepancy or they feel some questions can have more than one answer.
NTSE Stage 2 Result
The NCERT follows a very systematic system to display the results. The results would tentatively be displayed on July/august 2018. The final result would be based on the marks scored in stage 2 MAT and SAT written exam and would not have no state wise quota.
The declared results would contain
1. The scanned copies of MAT and SAT OMR sheets of the candidate
2. The Answer keys for all the exams.
