What is DASA Scheme Exactly?
DASA is known as Direct Admissions of Students Abroad. DASA scheme was launched by Ministry of Human Resource Development, India (MHRD) for NRIs (Non-Residential Indians)/ PIO (Persons of Indian Origin)/ OCI (Overseas Citizen of India)/ Foreign Nationals who want to take admissions in the premier Institutes of India.
Admissions will be provided in UG & PG Programs for Engineering, Architecture Design, Management courses through Scores/Rank obtained in JEE Main, GRE/GMAT entrance exams.
In other words, MHRD gave an opportunity to all the Indian citizens to pursue graduation who are residing abroad. Hence, DASA Scheme made it easier for the engineering aspirants to apply for the UG (Under Grad.) Courses in NITs, IIITs, SPAs & CFIs of India, apart from the IITs.

Are you an NRI/PIO/OCI?
Then, lets dig into the Eligibility Criteria to know what makes you eligible. DASA scheme is an initiative launched by MHRD, India for NRIs/PIO/OCI/Foreign Nationals.If youre an Indian residing abroad and you dont know what category you absolutely fall into, check the below stuff to know what stream you fall into;
Non-Resident Indian – NRI, also known as Indian Diaspora, are the people who were born in India or are the descendants of Indians that reside apart from India.
Person of Indian Origin – PIO is also known as Overseas Indians. They are the ones who were born in India or are the descendants of Indians that reside apart from India. You can’t be a PIO, if you’re a citizen of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Iraq, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and/or Nepal.
Overseas Citizen of India – OCI is an immigration status authorized for a foreign citizen of Indian origin to live and work in the Republic of India indefinitely. Visit DASA Scheme for NRIs/OCI/PIO for more details

DASA Eligibility
You have to meet all 3 types of requirements to apply under the DASA scheme. The eligibility list is as follows:

Residential Eligibility
Age Eligibility: There is no restriction for age limit in DASA 2025. The student have to be 12th pass only. There should be a date of birth issued by any Government authority.
Academics Eligibility: Applicant must qualify 12th grade or equivalent grade from Universities recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) & applicants must have successfully completed 3 subjects - Mathematics, Physics & one of the subjects from Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science or Biology in 11th and 12th grade.
Applicants must have scored at least 60% aggregate or 6.5 GPA (10 point scale basis) & they must have finished 12th grade or are expecting results by September 2025.
Applicants with the minimum JEE Main score of 180+ are eligible. Applicants have to submit their JEE Main score directly to the DASA conducting Institute.
Ensure you are sending your JEE Main scores by June 10, 2025. If you fail to send the JEE Main scores by June 10, 2025, you won’t be able to attend the Round 1, 2 & 3 of DASA Scheme.
Residential Eligibility: All Foreign Nationals residing in any country including India or Indian Nationals studying abroad that fulfilled the above-mentioned admission criteria shall be eligible. An NRI/PIO/OCI student is eligible for DASA scheme if he/she finishes his 11th and 12th grade in any foreign country in the last 8 years. If you hail from any of the below-mentioned Gulf Countries, you are eligible for the CIWG Scheme as well (a subset of DASA Scheme).

You can avail the benefits of CIWG and DASA scheme. If you fail to get admission under CIWG scheme, you can get admission in DASA quota.

The entire registration procedure of DASA finishes in 4 steps.

Payment of the Application Fees
Registration Process – In this process, you must create an account on the DASA's website (as you will be submitting JEE Main Scores later). Hence, the application process is completely in online mode.
At the end of the Registration process, you will get Applicant ID and Password for future logins/ use.
Application Form Filling – After creating the account, you will have to submit your Personal and Academic information online. You must submit your JEE Main to the DASA conducting Institute for particulr year i.e. to MNNIT, Jaipur.
Submission of the Details – You then must upload and submit the other relevant documents like Passport, DOB proof and the documents of qualifying 10th, 11th and 12th grade/standard. Once you submit the application/registration form, you can't make any changes in your entries.
Payment of the Application Fees – This is the final step to end the process of registration. Your registration will only be accomplished if you pay the tuition fee of the first semester along with the application fee. So you’ve to pay the entire fee and submit the proof of fee payment via debit/credit or SWIFT or E-Payment. Check the DASA Registration for more details.

You are only invited to the counselling and admission allotment, if you’re merit among the applicants.
This counselling round is done in 3 steps -

JEE Main Score Consideration – Your JEE Main scores are only considered if you send your JEE Main scores to the DASA. The best thing here is DASA never asks you t submit all your JEE Main scores. They just want your best scores among the Physics, Chemistry and Math tests you’ve taken.
Merit List Preparation – After receiving the JEE Main scores from all the applicants, DASA makes the list of merit students on the basis of JEE Main scores that received. If yours and your fellow applicant’s scores tie up, DASA allots the seat by acknowledging the Score basis.
DASA checks your Math JEE Main score first and if your Math score is more than your fellow applicant, you’re awarded the seat. If the tie hasn’t broken up yet, DASA now checks yours and your fellow applicant’s Physics JEE Main score and allots the seat for you if your score is better than the fellow applicant.
In some cases, tie doesn’t break up even after checking your Physics JEE Main scores. In this case, the elder one will be allotted.
Seat Allotment of Institutes & Programs – Round Wise You have to start applying to the DASA scheme once the application form is available online. DASA often releases the online application in the second week of April. You’ve to submit your JEE Main scores and pay the tuition fee of first semester during the registration process. You have to send all the JEE Main scores before the application form is out. Once the application form is out, you couldn’t be eligible for the First 3 Rounds of Counselling. In order to become eligible, you have to take the three JEE Main by May.

DASA Cutoff
Very anxious about the admission and want to project your score on the basis of JEE Main scores cut-off? As it’s not as easy as it sounds to admit the top technical institutes of India, you have to put tons of efforts to on-board your prospective colleges.

Answer: Yes, DASA Scheme as well as its subset (the CIWG Scheme) will be available for admissions in the academic year 2025-26.
By applying under these scheme, students can take admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFIs & SPAs.
Answer: No. As notified on the official website of DASA, SAT 2 Scores or SAT Subject Scores will no longer be valid from 2021 onwards to take admissions under DASA & CIWG Scheme.
Answer: The benefit with JEE is that the students who happen to be eligible for JEE Advanced (decided on the basis of JEE Main Results), can take JEE Advanced Exams to try for admissions in IITs, the most premier engineering Institute in India.
The same wasn’t possible with SAT 2 because IITs dont intake students on the basis of SAT 2 Scores. If students can’t clear JEE Advanced, they can still take admissions in NITs, IIITs, CFIs & SPAs on the basis of JEE Main Rank.
The eligibility criteria for DASA 2025 & CIWG 2025 will remain the same as it is for 2024 or 2025. There are no changes in the eligibility criteria yet announced officially by DASA. Visit here, to check your DASA Eligibility.
Answer: Because DASA released this notification on 4th of April on its official website (https://dasanit.org/). There are 100% chance that this notification is a final one.
No detailed circular has been released as of now but as soon as any such updates arrive, you can find them on our website.
Answer: This is completely unpredictable. But there seems to be less chance that it will be withdrawn. The NRI, PIO, OCI Students who wish to apply for DASA / CIWG 2025 (& years after 2021) must start preparing for JEE Main.
Answer: No changes have been made in the qualifying exam criteria for DASA 2022. Students must have a minimum of 60%, or equivalent, in Grade 12 Exams (of their respective boards) & must have successfully completed Maths, Physics and one of the subjects from (Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Biology) in Grade 11th & 12th.
Answer: The applicants must be thoroughly aware of the syllabus & pattern i.e. revolving around the NCERT textbooks for class 11th & 12th.
This is because JEE Syllabus is based on the NCERT Text books. The students must also practice using various reference books /online test series/ JEE coaching online/ mock tests/ previous years papers in order to crack JEE 2025 for applying under DASA 2025 or CIWG 2025.
Answer: The JEE cutoff varies every year because of the percentile system. Hence, the exact cut off cannot be mentioned. Every year, JEE cutoff is announced at the time of JEE Result Declaration & it is valid only for that particular year.
Answer: Based on the tough competition students have in India, it is very necessary for students to make extra efforts to clear JEE Main or Advanced. In India, when science students enter grade 11th, they take up tuitions or coaching to help them prepare for JEE Main.
Because the JEE Syllabus is based on NCERT Textbooks which are used in Grade 11th & 12th, it also helps them prepare for their school exams / board exams. Ideally, 2 years of JEE preparation (coaching, previous 40 years questions practice, test series) is needed for students who want to clear JEE Main.
Hence, it is highly recommended for NRI , PIO, OCI Students to take JEE Coaching if they wish to secure a seat in NITs, IIITs, CFIs or SPAs under DASA / CIWG Scheme 2025.
